The mantra
Om Namaḥ Śivāya
Meaning
“I bow to Shiva.” Na-ma-shi-va-ya are the five syllables of the panchakshari, which the Shaiva tradition links to the five elements. With Om it becomes the shadakshari, the six-syllable mantra found in the Shri Rudram of the Yajurveda.
Om Namah Shivaya is the heart of Shaiva practice from Kashi to Kailash to the Tamil Shaivite saints. It is chanted on rudraksha malas, in temples during abhishek, and silently by sadhus on pilgrimage.
For long sankalps such as 1.25 lakh japa, keeping an honest count is the hardest part. This counter keeps your running total safely on your device across weeks, with a mala view and a daily target.
