    The mantra

    श्री राम जय राम जय जय राम

Śrī Rāma Jaya Rāma Jaya Jaya Rāma

    Meaning

“Glory to Shri Ram, victory to Ram, victory, victory to Ram.” This thirteen-syllable mantra praises Ram as the victorious protector of dharma. It was spread widely by Samarth Ramdas and later by Swami Ramdas of Anandashram.

Samarth Ramdas, guru of Chhatrapati Shivaji, is said to have chanted this mantra thirteen crore times. In Maharashtra and Karnataka it is sung in bhajan circles, and many devotees keep a lifetime count of it.

Because the line is longer than a single name, a mala of it takes more time. The counter shows minutes chanted per session so you can see your real pace and set a realistic daily sankalp.

Shri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram: common questions

Is “Jai Shri Ram” the same mantra?

“Jai Shri Ram” is a short form used as a greeting and a call. The full mantra for japa is “Shri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram”.

    Why 13 lakh repetitions?

The mantra has 13 syllables, and the tradition of Samarth Ramdas associates a count of 13 lakh with a full anushthan. It is a long-term goal, not a daily one.

    Can I chant it silently?

Yes. Silent (manasik) japa is considered especially powerful. Tap the counter once per mental repetition.
