The mantra
Hare Kṛṣṇa Hare Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa Hare Hare, Hare Rāma Hare Rāma Rāma Rāma Hare Hare
Meaning
The mahamantra calls on Hare (Radha, the energy of the Lord), Krishna (the all-attractive) and Rama (the source of joy). The Kali-santarana Upanishad presents these sixteen names as the means of crossing the difficulties of the age of Kali.
Popularised worldwide by Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s sankirtan movement and later by ISKCON, the Hare Krishna mahamantra is one of the most chanted mantras on earth. It needs no initiation to begin, and it is chanted both softly on beads (japa) and loudly in congregation (kirtan).
A round means one full turn of the 108-bead mala. This counter treats every 108 taps as a round, shows how many rounds you have done today, and can be set to the traditional target of 16 rounds.
